Merchant Taylor brand identity manchester

Merchant Taylors' Schools

One of the region's leading independent schools wanted to modernise its identity. This was an extremely sensitive project. We were tasked with making Merchants' coat of arms more contemporary without losing its heritage or removing any key components.

Solution

Working closely with the College of Arms,
we deconstructed the components that constituted the 'full achievement' and set about simplifying and modernising the key elements. As well as presenting Merchants'
in a more modern manner, legibility was
vastly improved.

"Glorious really got to the heart of our identity. We wanted to modernise the crest, but retain its 387 year old nationally renowned heritage - no mean feat. They researched the project thoroughly, liaising with the College of Arms while pushing the design as far as we would let them."
