Take the challenge
I always have a list of most hated words and phrases. Words that are over-used, should never be used, and if they dropped out of the English vocabulary there should be a not insignificant celebration.
- Solutions. It adds nothing and could be dropped from 99% of situations and improve the environment while reducing any anger management issues I have. Think ‘web solutions’ (web), ‘ink solutions’ (ink) and ‘international freight delivery solutions’ (courier).
- ‘and much more’. Aargh. Particularly popular with retailers and on vehicle livery. This actually means, ‘and nothing more’.
- Challenges. The word of the noughties. Leave it out, it’s a problem.
