The coolest socks in town?
If like us, you thought socks were just one of those things not really worthy of any real thought or consideration, then think again. Look what arrived in the post this morning!

Ho ho ho, It’s Christmas!
Some of our clients received our Christmas mailer today, a little something from us all here at Glorious and although we all thought it would be a great idea if Scott dressed up as Santa and delivered them all by hand, he just didn’t seem all that keen. Anyway as the carol says a ‘Christmas trees branches are lovely’, but not when you’ve got to sweep up a pile of needles, every day over the holidays. So we designed this two dimensional tree, hassle free, but deceptively realistic. Merry Christmas.

Going, going, gong
It’s good to be Glorious, which is why we were chuffed to win two awards at this year’s Roses Design Awards, held at Manchester’s longest building, Beetham Tower. We got two nominations and both got prizes, bronzes; one for our diary (best use of photography) and another for Temperature Control (best website), which wasn’t bad considering the quality of the competition.

Teacher’s pet
It’s always satisfying when a plan comes together, especially when it’s an 18 month project to rebrand one of the most well known names in private education.
So, when the new signage went up at Merchant Taylors’ Schools in Crosby, our design team made themselves a brew and cracked open the Hob Nobs.
‘Merchants’, for those who don’t know, is Liverpool’s leading independent school. The brief was to bring all four schools together, retain the 400 year old heritage, while modernising the Schools and present it as the beacon of dynamic, forward-thinking education that it is. We worked with the College of Arms to agree the redesign of the coat of arms and the marketing director to formulate a strategy which included identity, stationery, signage, advertising, prospectus, photography, vehicle livery, uniforms and even room decor. And they were pleased.

Tate in 08
Time to get yourself down to Albert Dock.
The Docks are packed with the 68 foot Round the World Clippers, while the Tate is refurb-ing the gallery in preparation for Capital of Culture year.
Lots of colours, and we’ve played our part in it. We’re designing all of Tate Liverpool’s exhibition graphics and the 100-page book for its three-floor ’08 exhibition which will run from this September until 2009 - potentially the biggest exhibition ever to be held at Tate Liverpool.
It’s called, The Twentieth Century. How it looked and how it felt.
And, well, it’s looking good and you know, it feels good.
Tate Liverpool director Christoph thought so too: “Glorious has captured the essence of Tate Liverpool’s major collection displays for the European Capital of Culture year, providing a striking and sensitive design.”
Well said. It’s based on lines, and Christoph likes lines so we chose well.

smokin’
Who said smoking wasn’t fashionable? Not us, not even our non-smokers.
It’s just as well, because we’ve just won the business to relaunch a French cigarette paper brand owned by Zig Zag.
We’re working on a national campaign to market Job (what a great name), a 170 year-old brand, steeped in heritage. We can barely contain ourselves we’re that excited.
Andrew Armstrong, the MD of Zig Zag is a fine chap, with lashings of enthusiasm and a natural dislike for Imperial Tobacco (the baddies in this marketing showdown). Andrew had never used a British agency, always using French ones, “British agencies don’t get our brands” he said. You can guess the next bit: “…but Glorious have really got into the Job brand, they know what we’re about. We are very excited by the plans and the creative ideas they’ve come up so far.”
Sit back, light up and smell the coffee, or otherwise.

What’s the deal?
Who needs a mailer when you can have a poster?
When top dealmaker Dow Schofield Watts wanted to tell everyone about its move, we came up with a nifty wee line, and then decided it should be big, no, bigger, no bigger still.
