Last night Urbis opened it’s latest exhibition, State of the Art: New York with an identity designed by Glorious. A hand-made aesthetic forms a common thread between much of the work on display. Taking this as an influence we gave a type style associated with the city through Milton Glaser’s I Love NY logo a similar DIY attitude.

The show continues throughout the summer and is worth a visit.

This is us celebrating in London, where we picked up a Gramia Award from The Grocer magazine for our JOB posters.

As you can imagine, we were up against big swanky advertising agencies, like McCann-Erickson London, and were beaten to the overall ‘Diamond’ award by some agency called BBH, for Kentucky Fried Chicken. How immoral!

Falling demand has meant that BT have removed 31,000 unprofitable telephone boxes since 2002. Thankfully, that leaves 64,000 available advertising spaces for our client, Buy Art Fair. The number to call for tickets is 0844 815 4867.

The Consult Group wanted a visual identity for their new ‘blook’ (more than book, more than just a blog). ‘Serious fun’ was the message, as the company targeted businesses and creative agencies across the UK, and beyond! They wanted an identity they could use on posters, their new website and other material. The concept is based on a chap with a sandwich board proclaiming ‘The End of the World is Nigh’. Every month, Consult director Jeff Eddis will write a chapter of the blook proclaiming the best ways to attract new business.
You may notice the resemblance between our Nick holding the poster and the chap holding the poster of the poster. Freaky eh?

Top photographer and friend of the family, Tim Ainsworth, wanted a moving mailer to let the world know he was moving on and up. In keeping with the typographic style of his identity, we created a simple mailer, screen printed on packing paper, folded and taped with gaffer tape – all ready for the removal men.

And the Icing on the cake? When payment arrived in the form of the finest spongy doughnuts. Yum.

Some of our clients received our Christmas mailer today, a little something from us all here at Glorious and although we all thought it would be a great idea if Scott dressed up as Santa and delivered them all by hand, he just didn’t seem all that keen. Anyway as the carol says a ‘Christmas trees branches are lovely’, but not when you’ve got to sweep up a pile of needles, every day over the holidays. So we designed this two dimensional tree, hassle free, but deceptively realistic. Merry Christmas.
